JAMMU, Aug 29: Government Degree College Budhal celebrated National Sports Day with zeal and fervor, here today.
A symposium on the topic “Importance of Sports” was organized on the occasion.
11 students participated in the symposium. Shah Nawaz bagged Ist position, while Liaqut Ali and Mohd Shabir Thakur secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Earlier, the function started with recitation of few verses of the Holy Quran by Liaqat Ali followed by Naat Sharief by Rayesa Chowdhary. Muddassar Ahmed Dar (PTI) delivered welcome address and also threw light on the importance of the day.
Prof Pariksha Raina, Dr Mohd Ramzan and Prof Altaf Ahmed acted as jury members for the symposium. Prof Mohd Yasir Bhat compiled the result.
Principal of the college Dr Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the function and in his presidential address he appreciated efforts of staff and students for making the function successful.
Dr Mohd Sajar Malik, HoD Persian conducted the proceedings of the programme, while Prof Mohd Arif, HoD English presented formal vote of thanks.
