JAMMU, Apr 28: G D Goenka Public School Jammu, (Governed by Om Parkash Bansal Charitable trust-Regd.), organized Inter School Group Song Competition at the Goenkan Acres, here.
The Programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, A L Vijay Rao, Deputy Commissioner K V Sangathan, J & K Region.
Twelve Schools participated in the competition which included APS Domana, DPS Jammu, Jammu Sanskriti, Jodhamal Public School, K C Public School, Nagbani School, Presentation Convent, Stephens International, APS Akhnoor, K.C. Gurukul, Banyan International and St. Xavier School.
G.D Goenka School students presented their talent in the competition but did not compete being the host school, which was much appreciated by the chief guest and also the participating Schools.
The theme of the songs was based on ‘Festivals of India namely Baisakhi, Holi, Diwali Janamashtami, Shivratri so on and so forth. Both Junior and senior groups comprised of 6 students each.
The Parameters of judgement were ‘Sur’, ‘Tal’ and Presentation.
Only two musical instruments were allowed.
The chief guest in his address appreciated the Principal of GD Goenka Public School, Dr RP Singh and his team of teachers for organizing a wonderful opportunity for the Jammuites to show case their musical skill.
Bishan Dass Ji from Cultural Academy and Harish Kaila from Radio Station Jammu were the adjudicators on the occasion.
In the senior group, Nagbani School was adjudged first, K C Gurukul School was declared second and third position was bagged by Presentation Convent School.
In the Junior Group, K C Gurukul School was adjudged first, second position was bagged by DPS Jammu and Presentation Convent School claimed the third position.
The Principal of the School, Dr R P Singh presented vote of thanks.
