JAMMU, Aug 5: GD Goenka Public School organized a short and thought provoking skit on “Gender Sensitivity” under the aegis of British Council, in which students of class IX and X took part.
The Gandhian philosophy of equality sans race, class, skin, religion, caste, ethnicity, culture and of course gender was brilliantly executed. The students projected the plight of women in the hypocritical society we live in.
On one hand, we take pride and worship our Goddesses, Maa Laxmi for prosperity and wealth, Maa Saraswati for wisdom and knowledge, Maa Annaporna for food while on the other hand, we violate the basic fundamental rights and physically, mentally and emotionally abuse our women–the pillar of strength of every family.
The skit highlighted the present day atrocities committed on women on a daily basis.
The message was clear and strong “Let us all pledge to give our women what they deserve–Respect, Liberty and Equality–This is what the Indian Democracy stands for”.
Principal of the school, Rajesh Rathore was moved, thrilled and proud to witness a skit of such stature. He stressed upon the need to be in all extreme situations courageous.
Rathore spoke at length about the status and role of women in developing a society. He encouraged all to strive towards excellence.
