JAMMU, Dec 22: Isabelle and Rose, the two Assistant Teachers from UK, currently on an Exchange Programme for 6 months with the school, were the sculptors and the architects of the Nativity Play hosted by GD Goenka Public School, Jammu governed by Om Prakash Bansal Charitable Trust.
Class VII-A Goenkans enacted the Nativity Play based on the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God. They exhibited professionalism by enacting various scenes flawlessly and with panache- be it King Herod’s anger and envy, to the three wise men carrying gifts or the shepherds visiting the manger where baby Jesus was born in Bethlehem to singing ‘We wish you a ‘Merry Christmas’. However, it was the last act of the skit which was the “ Show Stopper” moment when the children lit candles and placed them near Baby Jesus in the manger where he was wrapped and kept, during the singing of the Christmas Carol,’ Silent Night, Holy Night”. There was a certain divinity and everything appeared extremely sacred and holy. Few children from the audience too placed the lit candles near the manger on stage. The Director of the school
The twist to the skit was to witness one of the students dressed as Santa Clause distributing sweets, candies and lollies-delightful little pleasures to the children. The batch of class VII-A was completely in sync with the theme by wearing Red and White Christmas Caps. They Children singing ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year’. The whole school sang melodiously with the Class VII students.
Isabella and Rose were given a farewell by the VII students as it was their last working day in India.
The Principal of the school, Dr RP Singh thanked them for their co-operation and innovative ideas for Curriculum Planning and teaching methodologies. Sanya Bansal, too thanked them for choosing G.D Goenka, Jammu as their preferred school. She, on behalf of the school, presented them with a Souvenir as a token of gratitude.
