UDHAMPUR, Apr 7: NSS Units of Govt. College for Women Udhampur organized a Poetry Recitation Competition on the topic ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, here today.
The programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the Principal, Prof KS Koushal, while welcome address was presented by Prof Swarna Bhougal, NSS Programme Officer.
While inaugurating the programme Principal threw light on the crucial role of female folk in the society and the significance of educating them. He also focused on the importance of self enlightenment and self awareness on the part of women.
Deepika, Rakhi and Shakti stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Prof Sudhir Singh, Dr Parveen Kumari and Dr Mulkh Raj Bemagi were the jury members.
Total 20 students from different streams participated in the Competitions and focused on the said topic.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mool Raj, NSS Programmer Officer.
