JAMMU, Aug 21: Government College for Women (GCW) Parade won the Inter-Collegiate Chess (Women) Championship 2015-16, beating PG Department, JU team by 3-1 points in the summit clash, here today.
Earlier, Sushmita Jamwal (GCW Parade) beat Ravleen Kour, Hansja Sharma (GWC Parade) drubbed Anita, Navneet Kour (GCW Parade) outplayed Santosh Kumari and Anchal Chiber (GCW Parade) lost to Sanmeet Kour.
Prof. Dhian S Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu was the chief guest of the function who awarded trophy to the winners.
Meanwhile, in men’s section, in 1st semifinal match, GDC Samba beat GDC Udhampur by 3-1 points. Debanshu Sambyal (GDC Samba) trounced Rahul Sharma (Sr.), Vikas Singh Sambyal (GDC Samba) outplayed Abhinav Parasher, Neeraj  Singh Sambyal (GDC Samba) beat Rahul Sharma and Janish Jai Manyal (GDC Samba) lost to Shivang Gupta.
In the 2nd semifinal match of men’s section, PG Department, JU prevailed over GGM. Science College. Ishann Sarna (PG Deptt.) defeated Sunil Singh, Hiteshwar AKesar (PG Deptt.) got better of Akhil Singh, Utkarsh Pathania (PG Deptt.) beat Kunal Sharma and Kulveer Singh Parihar (PG Deptt.) lost to Sukhdev Singh.
The final match of men’s section between PG Department, JU and GDC Samba will be played at the same venue tomorrow at 10 am.
