JAMMU, Sept 7: Inter-Collegiate Championships in fencing and football, organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education were played at Gymnasium Hall and ground number 1 of Jammu University, here today.
In inter-Collegiate Fencing Championship for women, GWC Parade, PG Department of Jammu University and GCW Gandhi Nagar bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively in Epee event.
In Foil Team event, GWC Parade, PG Department of Jammu University and GCW Gandhi Nagar claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Saber event, GWC Parade, GCW Gandhi Nagar and PG Department of Jammu University claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
The matches were officiated by Chotu Lal Sharma, Rachna Jamwal, Bhisham Singh and PD Singh, Incharge Fencing Competition.
Meanwhile, in Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament for men, MBS College smashed GDC Kathua by straight three goals to nil in the first match. From MBS College side, Manjot Singh netted the goal in 50th and 57th minutes, while Sarabjyot Singh scored the goal in 54th minute.
In the second match played between GDC Poonch and MIET College, the latter emerged winner by 3-2 goals. From MIET College side, Dheeraj netted the goals in 4th, 10th and 36th minutes, while GDC Poonch side, Gagandeep Singh scored the goals in 19th and 56th minutes.
PG Arts registered win over IDS Sehora by 7-2 goals in the third match. From PG Arts side, Shubham netted the goal in 4th and 45th minutes, Hanzin in 6th minute, Avinash in 21st minute, Achal in 37th minute, Gagan in 40th minute and Ayush Pandoh in 55th minute.
From ISD Sehora side, Shaheen and Ahtushum netted the goal in 30th and 50th minutes respectively.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Gupta, Vijay Kumar and Gagan Kumar.
The Championships were being played under the overall supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
