GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes Inter-College Seminar

JAMMU, Feb 12: Department of English in collaboration with Literary and Language Club of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar organized a one day Inter-College Seminar on “Generation Gap: So Close Yet too Far” , here.
Two participants were invited from different colleges for the Seminar.
On this occasion, Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College was the chief guest whereas Dr. Geetanjali Rana, Associate Prof. from GCW Parade and Prof. Rita Jitender, former Principal were the guest speakers.
The Programme began by invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha and by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Prof. Seema Mir, Head, Department of English welcomed the guests and presented key note address focusing upon the emerging generation gap prevalent in the society.
She urged youngsters to take a serious note of this problem otherwise all experienced minds would plunge into darkness.
Participants expressed their views upon the rampant problem of Generation Gap. Students also presented a skit, self composed poem, a song dedicated to mother and an emotional documentary “Khat” was also shown to the audience.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi Principal of the College was emotionally moved while addressing the students. She opined that our elders had spent quality time upon us, investing in us, educating and seeing us growing and taking wings of imagination.
Dr Geetanjali Rana and Dr Rita Jitender moved the audience by sharing their views in the open house discussion.
The adjudicators to this event were Prof Shruti Sharma, Prof Aekta Gupta and Prof Manisha Kohi.  Ashimta Sahini from Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar bagged 1st prize whereas Faisal Arif Rishu from MAM College clinched 2nd prize and 3rd place went to Ragini Gupta of the host College. Students of B.A Honours coordinated the programme, while Jilmil Mengi presented vote of thanks.
