JAMMU, Oct 1: Government College for Women (GCW), Gandhi Nagar clinched overall trophy, whereas Government College for Women (GCW), Parade bagged the runners-up trophy in Display Your Talent, an Inter-Collegiate/Departmental extravaganza which concluded with prize distribution function at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium here today. The contest was organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu.
During prize distribution function, Prof MP Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, was the chief guest while Lida Singh was guest of honour. Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, was the special guest.
Shikha Singh bagged Prof YB Singh Memorial Trophy for overall best performance in Fine Arts, whereas the team from Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu, clinched Dr Jagmohan Singh Memorial Trophy for the Best Team in Debate contest.
A special Trophy instituted by the University of Jammu in Memory of Late Dr Surinder Sharma, Asstt Registrar of the University, for the best team in Quiz was bagged by MBS College of Engineering and Technology.
Government Women College, Parade, was awarded Vijay Verma Memorial Trophy and Dr JR Sharma Memorial Trophy for overall Best Performance in Music.
Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar Jammu, clinched the Prof Santosh Sharma Memorial Trophy for the Best Team in Theatrical Events.
Mukteashi Sharma from Government Women College, Parade and Diksha Kumari from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar were jointly adjudged as the Overall Best Student of the Display Your Talent Contest and were awarded with Pankaj Mohan Bhatia Memorial Trophy.
Special Mementos were awarded to Prof Neerua Sharma, Former Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee and Prof Yash Pal Sharma, former Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee. Appreciation mementos were also awarded to Rahul Sharma, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Aenny Mattoo, Bharti Sharma and Tania Sohal, Joint Secretary Students Cultural Council.
Prof Pankaj.K.Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, presented a report of “Display Your Talent” while whereas vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sameer Gupta, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee.
Earlier, Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, delivered the welcome address, while as the show was compeered by Sahil Mehta, Radhika Mahajan, Maida Rasool, Jagpreet Kour and Kaveri Duggal.
Among others present were Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof MK Dhar, Registrar, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Incharge Administrator, GZSAC, Dr Sanja Gupta, Dr Savita Nayyer, Principals from various affiliated colleges, Teacher Incharges, members Campus Cultural Committee, faculty members, officers, members Students Cultural Council, scholars and students were present.
Earlier, Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized Folk Dance event during the ongoing “Display Your Talent” at General Zorawer Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu.
The team from the Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, clinched the first prize whereas the team from Government College of Women, Udhampur and the team from Government College for Women, Parade claimed second and third places respectively. The Certificate of Merit was awarded to PG Integrated Team, University of Jammu.
Anjali Sharma, Anuradha Seth Kohli, Randhir Kumar and Harnam Preet Singh were the adjudicators of the event.
Dr Suvidha Khana, was the teacher incharge for the event and apprised the participants about the rules and regulations. The programme was compeered by Aenny Mattoo and Tania Sohal, Joint Secretaries, SCC.
