* IZDL tournaments get underway

JAMMU, Sept 29: Gandhi Nagar Zone will lock horns with Satwari Zone in the final of the ongoing Inter-Zonal District Level (IZDL) U-17 Boys Cricket tournament, being organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports at Khel Gaon Nagrota, here tomorrow.
In first semi-final match, Gandhi Nagar defeated Satwari by 26 runs. Batting first, Gandhi Nagar scored 111 runs by losing 3 wickets in stipulated 10 overs. Gurusimran Singh made 52 runs while Aditya contributed 21 runs. Kanshuk clinched 2 wickets for Satwari.
In reply, Satwari bundled out at 86 runs in 10 overs by losing 5 wickets. Shavak and Mandeep scored 24 runs each. Laith got 2 wickets for Gandhi Nagar.
In 2nd semi-final match, Jammu beat Bhalwal by 27 runs. Batting first, Jammu scored 92 runs by losing 3 wickets. Ishan Bali made 44 runs and Damanpreet scored 18 runs. For Bhalwal, Vasu and Lakshay clinched 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target, Bhalwal made only 65 runs by losing 3 wickets in 10 overs. Aryan scored 33 runs. For Jammu, Tanish, Damanpreet and Vikreta bagged 1 wicket each.
In another tournament match, Bhalwal beat Bishnah by 19 runs. Batting first, Bhalwal made 77 runs by losing 6 wickets. Abhay Raj, Vasu & Aryan Jamwal made 23, 16 & 13 runs respectively. For Bishnah, Gourav & Aman Kumar took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Bishnah bundled out at 58 runs in stipulated 10 overs. Rahul Thapa made 15 runs while Tahir scored 13 runs. For Bhalwal, Mannat took 2 wickets and Vasu clinched 1 wicket.
Meanwhile, the Department of YSS also conducted IZDL Taekwondo competition for Boys AAG at Indoor Hall Sports Stadium Poonch.
About 100 students from Zones Poonch, Sathra, Kuniyiana and Nangali participated.
Abass, Mohd Imtaiz, Toyyeb Hazoor, Aaryan Digpal, Shoieb Ahmed, Manmeet Singh, Imtaiz Aziz, Amakesh Kumar, Mohd Ateek, Yaseen Chisti and Vishvas Sudan won gold medals, whereas Sarah Ahmed, Gurpreet Singh, Mohd Tahir and Mohd Soheel bagged silver medals during the event.
Farhad Siddqui, Chief Account Officer Poonch was the chief guest of the opening ceremony, while the event was conducted under the supervision of Narinder Singh, ZPEO Poonch and Vijay Kumar PEM and convenor of the competition.
