Gamechanger, Evershine reach Master’s Cup T20 final

JAMMU, June 10: Gamechanger Veterans and Evershine Cricket Club entered into the finals of ongoing veteran Master’s Cup T20 Cricket Championship here, today.
The tournament was organised by Veteran Cricket Association J&K under the aegis of Board for Veteran in India in collaboration with J&K Excise Department, J&K Sports Council, Batra Group, SMVD Narayana Hospital and Horizon Group.
Ranjeet Kalra, former J&K cricketer, presently Member J&K Sports Council and Member Governing Council (Sports) Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board was the chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated the efforts of Veteran Cricket Association J&K for giving a platform to veteran players to showcase their talent at a professional level. He added that this will motivate the younger generation towards playfields away from drugs which is also the theme of this tournament.
In today’s first semi-final, Jammu Kings won the toss and elected to bat first. Both their openers had a steady start before they lost 3 quick wickets. But Raj Kumar Bakshi and Vishal Sudan played sensibly and took the team total to 122 runs in stipulated 20 overs on the loss 6 wickets. Vishal Sudan scored 38, Raj Kumar 22 and Akash Bhola made 20 runs. For Gamechanger veterans, bowlers Peter, Lakhbinder and Ravi shared 1 wicket each.
Chasing 123 runs to win, Gamechanger Veterans led by the brilliance of Rajinder who scored a magnificent 51 runs reached the target in 17.5 overs losing 7 wickets. For Jammu Kings, Amit took 3 wickets whereas Balwant, Rajkumar and Rajesh shared 1 wicket each. Rajinder was declared as Man of the Match.
In the other semi-final, Evershine Cricket Club defeated Janta Sports Cricket Club by 6 wickets. Vishal, Captain of Janta Sports Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first but had a nightmarish start as they were 6 wickets down for just 27 runs. Lower middle order batsmen Ashish (20) and Nasir (16) showed some grit and took the score to 96 runs in stipulated 20 overs. For Evershine Cricket Club Hardeep and Amit shared 3 wickets each, whereas Danny and Ravinder shared 1 wicket each.
While chasing 97 runs to enter into finals, Evershine Cricket Club were 43 runs for no loss before Ashish gave a jolt to them by taking a Hat-trick. But Dhirender (17) and Narinder (23) took the team into finals in 14.2 overs. Ashish took 4 wickets for Janta Sports Cricket Club. Captain Hardeep Singh of Evershine Cricket Club was declared as Man of the Match.
