KARGIL Nov 4: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan said that sports are an ideal medium of recreation and physical activity which provide youth ample opportunities to draw in discipline, coordination, team spirit and zest for achieving their goals.
The CEC stated this while addressing players during the final ceremony of the District Level Ladakh Spykers Volleyball Tournament, 2020 at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Bemathang here today.
The tournament was organized by the Ladakh Spykers in collaboration with Skarchen Welfare Association Latoo wherein around 29 teams from across the district participated.
The final match was played between Friends Pashkum and Ladakh Spykers Latoo which was won by Friends Pashkum by 3-1 goals.
CEC Khan highlighted the importance of sports for the physical and mental development of the youth and said that these activities help a great deal in channelizing their energy in a positive direction and also keep them free from social evils.
Khan said that we were having tough times due to lockdown, now it seems everything is getting streamlined with the holding of such youth based activities.
Khan further said that under the UT Administration we have lot of opportunities and this year’s budget for sports has been doubled as compared to previous years.
The CEC also urged the young players to make clubs of various sports and get them registered with the UT Administration. He assured that the LAHDC, Kargil will provide all kind of support to such youth, and adequate funds and various other amenities will be made available to make a good infrastructure for sports in the district.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, other district officers and sports lovers in good number were present on the occasion.
Later, the CEC along with other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winner and the runner up teams.
