JAMMU, Sept 24: The sixth day of ‘Display Your Talent-2017-18’ organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, was dedicated to fine-arts and literary activities including Sketching, Cartooning, Essay Writing and Short Story Writing at University of Jammu, here.
In Essay Writing competition, around 60 students from different colleges, institutes and departments of the University of Jammu participated. Dr. Padam Dev Singh was the Teacher In-Charge of the event. The topics given to the students for Essay Writing were ‘How can India become a Global Superpower’ and ‘Rivers are the Lifeline of India’
In Short Story Writing, 40 students participated. Dr. Sandeep Arya was the Teacher In-Charge of the event. The participants were supposed to write a story on the following topics; ‘Changing Meaning of Friendship’, ‘Respect for Elders’ and ‘Childhood Memories’. The results of both the literary events would be declared at the valedictory function.
In Sketching, Ranju Kumari from Institute of Music and Fine Arts was declared First, Pallavi Gujral from Dept. of Zoology and Durga Shivam Sandhya from The Law School, JU stood Second and Third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Shubham Dogra from Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology and Deepanshu Thakur from MIET. Sh Bhushan Kesar, MA Alnasir and MA Almansour were the Judges and Dr. Meenakshi Chowdhary was the Teacher In-charge of the event.
In Cartooning, the topics given to the participants were ‘Traffic Jam’, ‘Rising Prices of Petrol’ and ‘GST’. Mehak Sharma from Dept. of Physics, JU, Priyanka from GDC Akhnoor and Rishav Vaid from Dogra Law College were declared First, Second and Third respectively. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Diksha Andotra from Deptt of Lifelong Learning and Ajay Kumar from IMFA. Manoj Chopra, Chander Shekhar and Sh. Kuldeep Raj were the Judges and Dr. Sunita Gupta was the Teacher In-charge of the event.
The events were coordinated by Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor), while Anjali Sharma, Namrta Chib, Suhail Ahmed, Suvidha Khajuria, Sonika, Ramneek, Aarti Devi and Divya Sharma managed the event.
