JAMMU, Jan 21: In the preliminary Round of 1st Annual Rolling Trophy instituted by District Election Officer, Jammu an Inter College Quiz Competition on “Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP)” was organized at Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Students from 22 colleges participated in the competition .
It is pertinent to mention here that January 25 is celebrated as the National Voters Day to generate awareness among the voters and various other initiatives have been taken to acquaint the young voters with the political and electoral process of the country and to ensure their participation for stronger democracy.
Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College hailed this as a visionary step of the Government for equipping the young voters with the knowledge about the election process and the power of their vote. Observers in this event were Piyush Singla, B.M.Darzi, Head Tele Education Division, ISRO, Ahmedabad, Prof. Asha Gupta, Principal GDC Akhnoor, Prof. P.K.Sharma and Principal, GDC Khour . GDC R.S.Pura, Govt. College of Education, Canal Road, Jammu, GDC Paloura, GCW, Gandhi Nagar and M.C. Khalsa College of Education, Jammu have reached the final round of the Quiz Competition which is scheduled to be held on January 22.
