First women Football tournament commences

JAMMU, Aug 6: The first women Football tournament being organized in the memory of the famous footballer of J&K Suresh Kumar was inaugurated at Isle of Ball in Rani Bagh, here today.
The two-day tournament is sponsored by JKSPT Jammu and organised by NMN College of Education. Former Minister and President Central Zone JKNC, Babu Rampaul was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, whereas Dr Vikas Sharma Secretary Central Zone JKNC and Satpal Shabotra were the guests of honour.
At the outset, floral tributes were paid to Suresh Kumar (Dimple) by the dignitaries. Babu Rampaul remembered the versatility of Suresh Kumar as a sportsperson.  He lauded the organizers for holding this tournament especially for the female footballers.
He mentioned that sports helps in mental as well as physical conditioning and laid emphasis on organizing many such events for the sake of youth. He hoped that next time this tournament will be held on a much larger scale. He emphasized on the need to promote sports culture among the youth.
Dr Vikas Sharma also spoke on the occasion and stated that Suresh was a brightest star in the sports arena of J&K and he inspired many to play football and turn sports professional. He also recalled his contributions in popularizing football in J&K.
The first match was played between teams from Hiranagar and Udhampur which ended in a draw.  The match was organised by Nirdosh Sagotra (twinkle) and prominent personalities present on the occasion including Advocate Lovish Bharat, Surjit Kumar, Nirdosh Sagotra, Er Rahul Poonia, Mahi Patyal, Aazaan, Dr. Ritasha and Dr. Palak.
