First ever two days long Tag Rugby Tournament commences

SRINAGAR, June 18: First ever two days long Tag Rugby Tournament organized by Jammu and Kashmir Rugby Association commenced in India at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), here today.
On the occasion, Joint Secretary, J&K Sports Council Kashmir JB Singh Bali was the chief guest, who inaugurated the tournament in presence of Mushtaq Ahmed, Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir, J&K State Sports Council, Haji Mirza, Deputy Director Central, Department of Youth Services and Sports and Sheikh Tulal Ahmad, Manager, SKISC, who were guests of honour.
The tournament is being organized in boys and girls categories between the age group of U-10 years, U-12 years and U-14.
This is the first ever mini rugby event for kids of below 10 years to be played in India. Such indoor rugby events are widely played across the globe expect in few countries.
Around 200 boys and girls are participating in this tournament. The participation of freshers was widely seen in this tourney.
The aim of this event was to promote and involve children in this Olympic sport.
The tournament is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Rugby Association under the aegis of Indian Rugby Football Union and J&K State Sports Council.
