JAMMU, June 17: A three-day long, 19th Jammu District Fencing Championship organized by Jammu District Amateur Fencing Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council concluded at Indoor hall, M.A Stadium, here today.
About 100 fencers from various clubs, schools and universities of Jammu district participated in the championship. Pawan Kumar, Additional Commissioner in Divisional Commissioner’s office was the chief guest on occasion of closing ceremony and Rajeev Sharma, Member, J&K Sports Council was the guest of honour.
The three days event was conducted under the supervision of Rachna Jamwal, Shotu Lal Sharma, assisted by technical officials Ujjwal Gupta, Sheffali Gupta, Tony Mattoo, Saniya Mattoo, Shivani Hans and Dimple Thappa.
President of Jammu District Fencing Association, M. J.Sharma who is also founder President, JKAFA, Bhanu Vijay Sharma, General Secretary and Sanjay Gupta, Treasurer of the Association were also present there.
M.J.Sharma said that the Jammu District Fencing Association is committed to take the fencing game to great heights. He further said that the Sports plays a great role in building the character of a player and makes them stronger to face the challenges of life.
The final results were Foil boys U/ 20, gold to Aadhar, Silver, Dhruv Mahajan, Bronze, Chankaya Sambyal and Poorvak. In Sabre girls U/ 20, gold to Aanaya Sharma.
Foil girls U/20, gold to Suhani Singh Raina, Silver, and Silver. Epee girls U/ 20, gold medal to Twinkle Gupta, Silver, Samreen, Bronze, Gyan Kour and Girish. Epee boys U/ 20, Gold, Aryan Sethi, Silver, Aditya Jasrotia, Bronze, Ranbir Singh.
