Fencers excel at Jr National Championship

JAMMU, Jan 13: The Jammu and Kashmir fencing team excelled by winning 3 medals in the recently concluded Junior National Fencing Championship at Billaspur in Chhattisgarh.
Three fencers namely Javed Ahmed,Pankaj Sharma and Priya Khujaria were shortlisted for representing India in the forthcoming Asian Junior and Cadet International Fencing Championships scheduled to be held at Behrain and Manama (Saudi Arabia) in February 2016.J&K won bronze medals in sabre team championship by defeated Maharashtra, Services, Haryana and lost against Punjab. The team comprised of Javed Ahmed, Vansh Mahajan, Karun Bakshi and Mohd Fareed.
A bronze medal was won by epee team, which lost against Services. The team comprised of Pankaj Sharma,Teja Singh, Ravi Singh and Shubam Sharma. Another bronze medal was won by girls sabre team, which included Priya Khajuria,Mokshi Sharma, Jaspreet Kour and Kayak Kumari.
