Fauja Singh statue to be installed at Moga

MOGA (PUNJAB) July 30:
A statue of late runner Fauja Singh will be installed shortly at Moga’ s famous Mahan Desh Bhagat Park.
Fauja Singh passed away at the age of 114 years on July 14, 2025 at his native Jalandhar village in Beas Pind when a motor vehicle ran into him.
Singh, a global running legend had several age group level records to his name. He started his running career at the ripe age of 89.
At 100, he became the first centenarian to complete a marathon, when he finished the 2011 Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
Well known statue artists Manjeet Singh Gill and his brother Surjit Singh Gill are constructing the statue.
“We will be making two statues of Fauja saab, one will be installed at the Mahan Desh Bhagat park in Moga, while the other will be given to Fauja Singh’s family in Jalandhar” said well known sculpture MS Gill in an exclusive chat with UNI.
The popular ‘Mahan Desh Bhagat park’ is situated at Ghall Kalan village in this district.
Gill informed that the statue will be made of mixed metal and fibre glass and would be six and a half feet in height. (UNI)
