JAMMU, Feb 8: Farooq Choudhary scored a brilliant hat-trick as formidable Jammu and Kashmir thrashed Chandigarh by four goals to nil in the ongoing 70th National Football Championship Santosh Trophy 2015-16 North Zone, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA), under the aegis of All India Football Federation at GGM Science College Football ground, here.
J&K State Sports Council is also providing logistic support to the organizers in smooth and successful conduct of the prestigious Tournament.
Earlier, in the first match played today, Delhi defeated Uttar Pradesh by two goals to one (2-1) in a close contest.
The goal scorers for Delhi were Ashu Nathani and Shaheen John, who netted the goals in 26th and 80th minutes respectively, while Mohd Amir Khan was the goal scorer for Uttar Pradesh in 58th minute of the match.
In another match played today, J&K defeated Chandigarh by four goals to nil (4-0) in a one-sided affair. Jammu and Kashmir players dominated from the word go and made series of moves in the first half, before succeeding in scoring their first goal through Adnan Ayoub in 25th minute of the match. Then, it was Farooq Choudhary all the way. He scored a splendid hat-trick by pelting 2nd, 3rd and 4th goal in 57th, 70th and 91st minutes respectively and helped J&K register a big victory.
The matches were officiated by Uttam Sarkar, Dipu Roy, Buhai Soren, Nasirruddin, Tejas Nagvenicar, Akash Jackson, Imran Sheikh and Paramanand Mandnekar.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Uttrakhand will take on Punjab at10 am, while Himachal Pradesh will face Haryana at 2 pm.
Ajeet Angral, Principal, GGM Science College and Alok Kumar DIG, Armed were the special guests in today’s proceedings.
