Farooq Khan pays homage to Founders as MIER celebrates 84th Foundation Day

JAMMU, Nov 17: To commemorate the completion of 84 glorious years of committed service and excellence in the field of education, Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) celebrated its Foundation Day here today.
On this occasion, an impressive programme on the theme “Anant Uday” was organised by the institute at its BC Road campus, here.
Farooq Khan, Advisor to the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir was the chief guest on the occasion.
On his arrival, the chief guest was accorded a warm reception by Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman and Dr Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER Group of Institutions along with Directors, Joint Directors and other senior officers of the Institute.
He was presented a guard of honour by the NCC Cadets and the Scouts and Guides of the school.
The head boy and the head girl of Model Academy presented a bouquet to the chief guest.
Thereafter, the chief guest paid homage to the Founders of MIER late Prof HL Gupta and Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp of learning.
Director MIER, Dr Adit Gupta formally welcomed the chief guest and described him as an exemplary and far-sighted administrator who has a long list of administrative positions to his credit. Highlighting his achievements of the Institute, Dr Gupta said that Mr Khan has served the Government as a decorated police officer at the IGP rank who has not only brought laurels to the UT of J&K but has also received the Presidents Medal for gallantry and bravery.
Mr Khan has also served as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep and was also the Advisor to the Governor of J&K.
Dr Gupta also welcomed Ranjeet Kalra, ace sports administrator and other dignitaries on the occasion.
An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of the school and the college. The programme commenced with paying rich tribute to Lord Ganesha in the form of ‘Ganesh Stuti’.
The little angels of Humming Buds captured the attention of the audience with their dance performance on the theme ‘Say No to Plastic.’ Special dance performance was given on theme ‘Love you Zindagi’ by students of Inclusive School of Model Academy spreading the message of living life to the fullest and fighting the battles of life like superheroes. The budding actors of the middle and secondary wing presented play written by Rohit Verma with the central idea of believing in yourself followed by a breath-taking couple dance by the primary wing. The students also presented a phenomenal fusion dance performance blending Kathak and Hip Hop.
Filling the air with patriotism, primary school students presented a patriotic dance in which they paid tribute to soldiers and freedom fighters followed by an electrifying Giddha performance by the college students showcasing Punjabi culture.
In a felicitation ceremony, mementoes were also presented to the students who excelled in academics and won medals at the national level sports events by the chief guest.
A cheque of Rs 20000 was presented to the winning teams of Under-14 and Under-16 category of the MIER Cricket Academy by Mr Kalra.
Chief guest, Farooq Khan, in his address extended heartiest congratulations to MIER on this occasion and lauded the institution for disseminating quality education.
He also reiterated that its robust education system has not only become the backbone of the knowledge society but has also prepared high-quality specialists and professionals in the field of education. He wished MIER a very best in future endeavours and appraised the efforts of the students and teachers in the organization of a marvellous cultural programme.
