Educational institutions celebrate International Youth Day

JAMMU, Aug 12: Various educational institutions celebrated International Youth Day.
NSS Unit of GDC Khour on “International Youth Day” organized an online painting, design a mask and one minute promotional video competition on the theme “Youth Engagement for Global Action”. The competition was organized by NSS Program Officer Prof Gurvinder Kour under the supervision of Prof Hans Raj Principal of the College. In painting competition, Safat Yousuf from GCW Srinagar secured 1st place, while Badal Singh from GDC Khour claimed 2nd place and Neha Rani from GCET Jammu obtained 3rd place.
In design a mask competition, Sonali Billawria from GCET Jammu secured 1st place, Zairah Sajad from GCW Srinagar secured 2nd place and Manik Kumar from GCET Jammu secured 3rd place. E-certificates were given to winners of the competition.
GDC Vijaypur as part of International Youth Day celebrations organized a National Level Online Quiz Competition on the topic “Reflections of New Education Policy-2020”. A large number of students from various Colleges and Universities of the country enthusiastically participated in the competition. The first and second position was secured by Sachit Karloopia and Asief Ahmed of Government MAM PG College, Jammu whereas Zaigham Sultan of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Chandigarh stood third. The consolation prize winner was Scienthia Karlupia from Army Public School BD Bari Brahmana, Samba.
To commemorate International Youth Day, Sports and Red Ribbon Club of the Government Degree College Kalakote in collaboration with JKACS organized painting, poster making and essay writing competitions on the themes “Mask Designing, Drug de-addiction, COVID-19, Public Health Crisis HIV/AIDS”. In poster making competition Sanya Gupta Student of class 10th from Presentation Convent School Jammu, Anu Bharti, student of Master of Library Science, University of Jammu, Krishi Kumari, student of class 3rd from Springdale School Jammu scored first, second and third position respectively. In Essay writing competition, Varshu Gupta, BA 5th Semester student from Government College for Women, Parade, Shruti Kumari, student of class 9th from Jammu shared the first prize where as Pardeep Singh Thakur BA Sem-II student and Rohit Singh Sem-II student from GDC Kishtwar scored second and third position respectively. In Mask Making Competition, Anuja Kapahi 5th Semester student from LPU Jalandhar, Kavisha Gupta, 5th semester student from Government MAM College and Pargti Gupta of 12th Class student from Government GHSS Gandhi Nagar scored first, second and third position respectively.
Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College congratulated all the participants.
Red Ribbon Club of GCW Udhampur under the convenorship of Dr Kewal Kumar celebrated International Youth Day in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society. On this occasion, two events were organized i.e. an online inter-collegiate quiz competition and an online inter-collegiate poster making competition on the topic “Public threats like HIV/AIDS, Drug De-addiction and COVID-19”. Pratiksha Thakur (Sem-IV) of GCW Udhampur and Sonam Manhas (Sem-II) of GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu clinched 1st position while Sonika (Sem-VI) of GCW Udhampur and Neena Devi (Sem-II) of GCW Udhampur bagged 2nd position. Third position was awarded to five students Rekha Devi (Sem IV) GDC Samba, Akanksha Kumari (Sem VI) GCW Udhampur, Sanjeev Kumar (Sem II) GDC Samba, Gagandeep Choudhary (Sem IV) GDC Nowshera and Vidhi Thakur (Sem VI) GCW Udhampur. All the participants have given E-certificates. In quiz competition, all the participants were awarded with E-certificates. On the occasion, the chief guest was Principal Minu Mahajan.
Red Ribbon Club and NSS Units (Boys and Girls) of PG College Rajouri celebrated International Youth Day in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control Society. The programme was conducted under the patronship of Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina. On the occasion, online symposia, poster and painting competition and one minute promotional videos were organized. In poster/painting competition, Harpreet Kour and Histashri Sharma bagged 1st and 2nd positions respectively whereas 3rd position was shared by Waqar Hussain Shah and Mohammad Saleem. In one minute promotional videos, Kalpana Sharma and Mohammad Tanveer were adjudged as 1st and 3rd whereas Afroz Hamid and Vishav Preet Singh shared 2nd position.
NSS unit of Government Degree College Udhampur under the guidance of Principal of the College Prof Subhash Chander Sharma celebrated International Youth Day by organizing Painting/Poster Competition. In the competition, the first position was clinched by Kritika from BSc Semester 1, while second and third positions were secured by Renu Rajput from BSc Semester 1 and Ritika from BSc Semester 1 respectively. On the occasion, NSS volunteers created a one minute promotional video on the topic “HIV: Stigma Free”.
Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College, Akhnoor organized poster making and audio/video making online competition on “International Youth Day” under the guidance of Principal of the college Dr Namarta.
GDC Jindrah organized bunch of activities by different departments of the college under the guidance of Prof Dr Rajshree Dhar, Principal of the college. Inter-college online poster making competition was organized wherein Sudha Choudhary of GDC RS Pura stood first, Pallavi Sharma of GDC Jindrah stood second and Sakshi Kumari of GDC RSPura bagged third position. RUSA-EBSB Club of the college organised National level online poster making competition wherein Riya Jamwal, 4th semester student of GDC Jindrah stood first, Bhanumati Sampat of Rajeshwari Vedachalam Government Arts College Tamil Nadu stood second and Shamim Akhtar, student of 2nd semester of GDC Jindrah clinched third position.
Government Degree College Marh organized various activities to celebrate International Youth Day. On the occasion, Red Ribbon Club organized hand made mask making activity and one minute promotional video related COVID-19 under the supervision of Principal Prof Aekta Gupta. All Red Ribbon Club students will be given e-Certificates by Organizing Committee.
Government Degree College Chenani organized an online programme on International Youth Day. The students participated enthusiastically in the programme and presented their creativity in different competitions. Dr Pragya Khanna Principal of the college announced that merit e-Certificates will be sent to three best entries.
NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Government College of Education (GCoE), Jammu in collaboration with Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Krishnnkoil, Virudhnagar, Tamil Nadu organized ‘National Youth Conclave for Cultural Exchange’ on International Youth Day. Around 100 students from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Tamil Nadu participated in the conclave. Dr Kulvinder Kour, Principal GCoE, Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Program Officer, Shapia Shameem, Member Red Ribbon Club, Dr S Rema Devi, Associate Professor and Dr K Gurusamy, Dean School of Liberal Arts and Education, Tamil Nadu were present on the occasion.
GDC Dudu Basantgarh conducted poster making competition under the guidance of College Principal, Nandita Sharma, Shriya Sharma and Rupali Rajput from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu clinched first, second and third positions respectively. In Drug de-addiction, Ruchika Sharma from GCW Gandhi Nagar clinched first position, Ramni Gupta from GCW Udhampur got second position, while Vishali Sangra from GCW Gandhi Nagar secured third position.
NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club of GDC Sunderbani organized poster making competition in which large numbers of students across the UT participated. First prize was bagged by Sonali Sharma of GDC Sunderbani, second prize by Rajan Sharma of GDC Sunderbani and third prize was shared by Gagandeep Choudhary of GDC Nowshera and Rakhee Jamwal of GCW Parade Jammu.
