UDHAMPUR, May 15: The Directorate of Department of Youth Services and Sports Jammu and Kashmir, Udhampur, today conducted District Level Inter-School Competitions for Girls in the disciplines of Fencing, Netball, Shooting, Basketball and Cycling for the academic session 2026-27.
The competitions were organized under the patronage of DGYSS Anuradha Gupta and under the supervision of the Incharge District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Udhampur. A total of 139 girl participants from various Government and private educational institutions of the district participated enthusiastically, displaying talent, discipline and sportsmanship.
Addressing the participants, the Incharge DYSSO Udhampur encouraged students to actively participate in sports and co-curricular activities for physical and mental well-being. He also urged young athletes to stay away from drugs and support the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.” Social activist and motivational speaker Vimal Sharma also interacted with the participants and motivated them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The event was attended by Jaswinder Singh, Nisha Kumari, Vikas Sharma, Jatin Sethi, Karun Magotra, Sanjeev Khajuria and Meenakshi. Technical officials included Naveen Kumar, Raj Kumar, Manik Nargotra, Rakesh Modi, Ramesh Kumar, Jagdish Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Mukh Raj Jajju, Kuldeep Sharma, Sanjay Sharma and Sunil Dutt Khajuria.
In Shooting U/14 Girls, Vartika Sharma secured first place, followed by Aayra Singh and Alisha Mahajan, all from APS Udhampur. In U/17, Aaradhya Rastogi stood first, while Angel Rana and Tejaswi Thakur secured second and third positions respectively.
In Fencing competitions, Mayra of DPS Udhampur, Devika of DPS Udhampur, Aadiya of APS Udhampur, Bhavleen Kour of APS Udhampur, Ashwathie of APS Udhampur and Shranya of DPS Udhampur secured top positions in different categories. Trials for Basketball in U/14 and U/17 categories were also conducted at Subash Stadium, Udhampur.
