JAMMU, Sept 13: JMC Deputy Mayor, Adv. Purnima Sharma inaugurated a one month long environmental awareness campaign dedicated to 75th Platinum Celebration of Independence at RM Public School Chowadi, here today.
The campaign is being organized by J&K Rural Sports Club Jammu- a Jammu based NGO in collaboration with RM Public School Chowadi Jammu and Shiksha Niketan Educational Group of Institutions and assisted by J&K Urban Forestry Department and District Youth Services and Sports.
The inauguration ceremony began with a seminar on the topic, “How to create a good environment for a better society” wherein students from various educational institutions spoke on the subject.
The chief guest of the occasion complimented the organizers and urged the necessity for a good environment in the present scenario as global warming and its adverse effects are becoming an advent.
She also informed that the JMC under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance has already initiated many awareness programs which are being reaching out to people.
Earlier, Purnima Sharma planted 75 trees along with school children in the premises of the School.
Narinder Singh, president in his welcome address informed that this campaign is aimed to create awareness through the medium of various educational, cultural and sports activities.
Sunil Singh DFO Urban Forestry Jammu delivered an extensive lecture on the topic and informed that the department has achieved the target of 1.5 million planting of trees during this session.
Director of the host School presented a vote of thanks and highlighted the achievements undertaken by the management.
