DPS Leh celebrates Dalai Lama’s birthday

LEH, July 6: Delhi Public School (DPS) Leh celebrated Dalai Lama’s 86th birthday with great enthusiasm today.
President, Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) Youth Wing Rigzin Dorjai and joint secretary Tsering Angdus were also present in the birthday function held at DPS Leh.
Following COVID appropriate behaviour, all dignitaries and the members of the school staff paid homage to Lord Buddha and offered prayers and wishes for Dalai Lama’s long and healthy life. They offered sacred scarves on the portrait of Dalai Lama and also cut a birthday cake later, as a mark of love and respect to Dalai Lama. All the members vowed to follow the path of love, kindness, compassion and peace shown by him.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the School, Nivedita Vasudeva said, “Dalai Lama is the epitome of selfless love while his glorious achievements and grand life work are a constant source of inspiration for all.” She urged the staff and students to follow ‘education of the heart’ as preached by Dalai Lama.
Pro-vice chairperson of he School, T P Singh said that the best gift of DPS Leh to Dalai Lama would be to put his noble words of wisdom into practice for the benefit of humankind.
