JAMMU, Sept 17: The students of Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu presented a bi-lingual street play titled ‘Hum Bharat Ke Naujawan’ in its School premises, here today.
English Teacher Manpreet Kour coordinated the event.
The play was an attempt to portray the binding constrains imposed by society on modern women who aspire for a flight of freedom through pursuing careers of their own choice.
Through the play, the students highlighted the rising crimes against women like dowry killings, acid attacks, rapes and female infanticides etc.
The protagonist of play, ‘Chetna’ , stood as a symbol for ‘Never Say Die’ spirit of the women, their innate potential, self-esteem and an indomitable spirit to forge ahead despite odds.
The play served as an apt comment on the conservative psyche of the society which conditions females right from their childhood to grow up as weaker and vulnerable gender.
Headmistress, Ruchi Chabra lauded the performance of the participants.
