JAMMU, Aug 24: Jammu District Inter-School Chess Festival, organized by Ace Chess Academy concluded here today.
Players from 10 different Schools of Jammu participated in the event and vied for the top honours.
DPS won the overall Championship.
Cash prizes worth Rs 25000 were distributed among the winners.
Dr A S Bhatia was the chief guest on the occasion, while Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association; Taranvir Singh Gujral coordinator and Vijay Choudhary, Director of Ace Chess Academy were present on the occasion.
FIDE Arbiter Bindu Pathania conducted all the matches.
In Under-13 boys, Soham Kamotra (DPS) won gold, while Soham Gupta (Jodhamal) and Adheit Pangotra (Heritage) claimed silver and bronze respectively, while in Under-13 girls, Meenal Gupta (KV Sunjwan), Avni Gupta (Heritage) and Sanjukta (Jodhamal) bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In Under-11 boys, Soham Kamotra (DPS), Soham Gupta (Jodhamal) and Adhit (Heritage) won gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in Under-11 girls, gold, silver and bronze medals went to Arushi Kotwal (BSF Paloura), Nirbhika Khajuria (Convent) and Kushdeep (Carmel Convent) respectively.
Ayush Gupta (Heritage), Deewang Gupta (Jodhamal) and Divay Jain (K C International) bagged gold, silver and bronze medals in Under-9 boys, while in Under-9 girls, Simranjot (J P World School) clinched gold.
The gold, silver and bronze medals in Under-7 boys were claimed by Divyam Gupta (K V Sunjwan), Divyam Choudhary (KV Gandhi Nagar) respectively, while in Under-7 girls, Nandita Khajuria (Convent) claimed gold.
