Dogri, Kashmiri folk dance items of Doda, Budgam selected

JAMMU, Dec 27: The adjudicators of the State Level Youth Festival, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, selected various items to be presented in forthcoming National Youth Festival to be held from January 8 to January 12, 2014 at Guwahati in Assam.
The Dogri folk Dance item of District Doda and Kashmiri folk dance item of District Pulwamia were selected on the occasion.
The judges of the event or selection committee included S S Kashyap, Deputy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra, Anil Tickoo, Cultural Officer J&K Culture Academy, and Dewan Chand Thakur, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kishtwar.
The other items selected in the event which concluded at Green Field Gandhi Nagar included One Act Play (Aatank), District Udhampur; Classical Vocal Solo (Rakesh Kalotra), District Jammu; Flute (Ravi Kumar), District Jammu; Harmonium (Ruchir Agarwal), District Jammu; Guitar (Rishav Basson), District Jammu and Solo Vocal Light (Massarat), District Pulwama.
Around 200 youth drawn from 12 districts of the Stare took part in the event and displayed their skill and talent.
Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal distributed prizes among the winners of various events on the occasion, while noted Psychologist Seema Agarwal, who had inaugurated the event yesterday, was also present on the occasion.
