JAMMU, Apr 26: Maharaja Ranbir Singh Sports Club organized the first-ever Dogra Legacy Half Marathon at RS Pura, aimed at promoting fitness, raising awareness against drug abuse, and celebrating Dogra heritage under the theme “Say No to Drugs.” The event formed part of the ongoing 100 Days Mission of Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir.
Organized in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF) and RS Pura Administration, the marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 450 runners across three categories – 21.1 km Half Marathon, 10 km Run and 5 km Run. The route stretched from Shaurya Resorts, Kullian to Suchetgarh Octroi Post, showcasing strong community engagement and fitness spirit.
The event was flagged off at 5:00 am by Sham Lal Choudhary, former Cabinet Minister, while Inspector General Shashank Anand, BSF Jammu Frontier, was the chief guest who also distributed prizes among winners.
In the 21.1 km Half Marathon (18-35 years men category), Ajay clinched first position with a timing of 1:21:06, followed closely by Sunil Kumar (1:21:28) and Sonu Singh (1:21:35). In the women’s 18-35 category, Rimpi Devi secured first position with 2:02:52, while Alisha Kour finished second in 2:03:25.
In the 35-50 years category, Kuldeep Kumar emerged winner in the men’s section with a timing of 1:32:56, followed by Shafat ul Bashir in second place and Aman Gupta in third. In the women’s category, Kirti won the race clocking 2:04:33, while Gaganmeet Kour and Anjali Sharma secured second and third positions respectively. In the 50+ category, Paramjeet Singh won the men’s race while Samita Sharma emerged winner in the women’s section.
In the 10 km Run (18-35 years men), Sohan Lal secured first place with a timing of 36:11, followed by Manvir Singh and Bunty Sharma. In the women’s section, Abhiprerna Awana stood first, while Aana Jamwal finished second. In the 35-50 years category, Naresh Kumar won the men’s race, followed by Akhilesh Rana and Shreeja Salathia were first runner-ups and Gagandeep Singh and Dr Kuljit Kour were 2nd runner-ups, in male and female category.
In the 50+ men category, Naresh Sharma secured first place, followed by Satbir Singh and Sham Suri.
In the 5 km Run (Below 18 category), Aryan Sharma won among boys, followed by Kanish Singh and Himanshu Kumar, while among girls, Sunakshi Thakur secured first position, followed by Aishwarya Sharma and Shivali Thakur. In the 18-35 category, Ansh Dubey won the men’s race, while Shamshad Bano emerged winner in the women’s section. In the 35-50 category, Bikram Kumar and Mandeep Kour secured top positions in men’s and women’s sections respectively. In the 50+ category, Anand Kumar and Dr Ritu Ahal won their respective divisions.
The event was professionally managed by Real Time Sports, Jammu, and dedicated to the memory of late Pranav Mahajan (“Shan-e-RS Pura”), remembered for his contribution towards sports and fitness promotion in the region.
