JAMMU, Mar 27: Media Cricket Club Jammu lost a cliffhanger against DMRR Warriors by 3 wickets in a low scoring match, played under lights at MA Stadium here.
Vivek Suri, captain Media Cricket Club Jammu won the toss and elected to bat first but DMRR Warriors bowled on testing line and length, which created trouble for Media Cricket Club’s batsmen to sweat hard for their runs.
In that process MCC lost wickets on regular intervals and succeeded to score 99 runs by losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Amit Kumar led the fight back with 28 runs, followed by Faheem Tak who scored 22 runs.
From DMRR, Rahul Mussa took 3 wickets, whereas Varun, Rahul Jamwal and Arsh shared 1 wicket each. The DMRR Warriors were brilliant on the field resulting in 3 run outs of Media Cricket Club.
Chasing 100 runs to win in stipulated 20 overs, DMRR Warriors batsmen were confident for a cake walk in the run chase but MCC bowlers bowled their hearts out and gave a spirited display of bowling. They kept the pressure on the batsmen and also kept a lid on the scoring rate.
Vivek Suri and Amit Kumar took 2-2 wickets each in their single over and gave a twist in the low scoring chase but Hritik Bhat (43 runs) kept his nerves and took DMRR Warriors to victory in 17.4 overs by losing 7 wickets. He was ably supported by Amit Bhat (31 runs).
For Media Cricket Club Jammu, Vivek Suri and Amit Kumar shared 2 wickets each, whereas Ashish Singh, Faheem and Deepak Dogra shared 1 wicket each. Rahul Mussa of DMRR Warriors was declared as man of the match for his splendid performance.
