KISHTWAR, Dec 25: First District Taekwondo Championship, organised by District Kishtwar Association, concluded at Al-Hilal Educational Institute, here today.
The championship was held under the supervision of Danish Manzoor (International Taekwondo Athlete/ Fit India Ambassador), who was appointed as observer by J&K Taekwondo Association.
The final day witnessed a massive combative skill show between the senior and junior athletes in both male and female categories. More than 100 players participated in different weight categories.
Out of them 30 Orphan athletes were sponsored by J&K Taekwondo Association.
The championship was closed off with the demonstration of Taekwondo fights by young boys and girls of different Clubs.
Chief guest of the closing ceremony was Dr Devansh Yadav (DC, Kishtwar). He was accompanied by Javid Iqbal (Chairman, Al. Hilal EI) as guest of honour.
The chief guest congratulated all medallists and participants for taking part in the championship. He along with other dignitaries distributed medals among all the medallists, while mementos were given to coaches/ referees also.
The special guests on the occasion were Shahnawaz Mir (Vice President DKTA), Arjumand Nazir (Branch Head J&K Bank) and Shafia Kousar (Govt. Teacher). All the Gold medallists will represent District Kishtwar in the forthcoming J&K UT Championship.
