SAMBA, May 28: Registering resounding wins over their rivals in the summit clashes, District Samba girls lifted the twin volleyball titles in the Inter-District Under-14 and Under-17 Girls Volleyball Championship, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Girls High School Ghagwal, here today.
Earlier, in volleyball Under-17 girls final, Samba thrashed Kathua by three sets to nil (3-0) in an easy contest, while in volleyball Under-14 girls title clash, Samba blanked Udhampur again by (3-0) sets to win the trophy.
Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu was the chief guest on the valedictory function who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Director briefed the policies and programmes of the Department with regard to raising the standard of sports in educational institutions.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Samba Jarpal Singh, the organizing secretary of the Tournament presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Headmaster Girls High School Ghagwal, besides Physical Education Lecturers, Zonal Physical Education Officers and allied field staff of the Department.
