District Rugby C’ship 2025 commences in Baramulla, Bandipora

SRINAGAR, June 25: The District Official Rugby Championship 2025 were inaugurated today with great enthusiasm in both Baramulla and Bandipora, marking a major milestone in promoting sports across the region.
In Baramulla, the event began at Krankshivan Sopore Sports Field, organised by the District Baramulla Rugby Association.
The Championship was formally inaugurated by the Chairman of Valley Public School Sopore, who served as the chief guest. In his address, he appreciated the association’s efforts and acknowledged the significant role of Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul in promoting sports in the Valley, particularly in Baramulla.
Simultaneously, Bandipora witnessed the launch of its Rugby Championship at Government Higher Secondary School Nadihal, under the theme Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan. The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Hussain Shawl, in the presence of veteran sports personality Sunnaullah Mir. Over 26 boys’ and girls’ teams from across the district are participating, showcasing growing enthusiasm for Rugby.
Faisal Ali Dar, Brand Ambassador of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan, emphasized the role of sports in combating drug abuse, calling the event “a movement for a better future.” He encouraged youth to stay committed and announced that strong representation from Bandipora is expected at the upcoming J&K UT Level Championship in Srinagar.
