POONCH, Feb 8: The District Poonch Wushu Championship, organized by the District Poonch Wushu Association and supported by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, commenced today at Poonch Martial Art Academy.
The event features competitions for various age groups: Sub Junior (5, 7, 9 years), Junior (14-17 years) and senior (18 years and above) boys and girls.
Around 130 players from multiple institutions and Wushu clubs are participating. The opening ceremony was graced by chief guest Mohd Sawal, Hockey Coach and observer from the Jammu and Kashmir District unit, along with dignitaries such as Rajinder Singh, Taekwondo Coach from Youth Services and Sports, Dr. Sarfraz Mir, Chairman of Sir Syed Education Mission and Jatinder Sharma, Headmaster of GMS Khorinar and Parveen Kour, Senior Vice President of District Poonch Wushu Association.
Wushu players like Akarshit Sudan, Qasim Hussain and Manmeet Singh showcased excellent performances on the first day. The gold medallists will represent Poonch in the upcoming 18th UT Jammu and Kashmir Wushu Championship from February 15-18 in Jammu.
