Leh, Dec 28: District Police Leh in its endeavor to engage children in a meaningful way during winter vacations and to promote sports among them, organises 10-day long ice skating coaching camp for children between the age of seven and 17 at District Police Office Ice Hockey Rink Angling.
SSP Leh Sargun Shukla formally inaugurated the camp in presence of SP CID Leh Stanzin Losal, DySp HQ Ishtyaq A Kacho, SHO Police Station Leh Inspector Sonam Wangchuk, RI DPL Inspector Yousuf and other police personnel and parents of the participating children.
Four trained coaches from District Police Leh are coaching around 50 children enrolled for the training in the first batch. Skates, helmets, refreshment, transportation and other equipments are being provided by the police during the training camp duration. A nominal registration fee is charged from each participant.
Talking to media, SSP Leh Sargun Shukla informed that District Police Leh realized the need to organize such camps for all children after it conducted a similar camp for specially-abled children last winter.
Therefore District Police Leh has decided to have four ice hockey coaching camps for children this winter, she stated.
She added that constructive and purposeful engagement of youth is an endeavor of the police. Leh Police hopes that such camps help some of the children to grow in the sport as international players in the future, she added.
