District Level Inter-School competitions get underway

JAMMU, Aug 1: Inter School District Level Tournament in the sports disciplines of Fencing (AAG) and Taekwondo, Squay Martial Art, Thang Tha, Wushu and Rugby for boys Under-19 years of District Jammu got underway at MA Stadium, Indoor Complex, here today.
In all 73 boys drawn from the Govt. and Private Institutions of district Jammu are taking part in the competition, which are being organized under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu and under the overall supervision of Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Jammu.
Earlier, the competition were declared open by  Chanchal Kour in a simple and well attended function.
While addressing on the occasion, Mrs Kour stressed upon the students to take part in the sports activities for the wholesome development of the personality.
She further said that sports and games are the best media through which one can interact with others and understand the culture and languages of other regions.
The main objective of these competitions is to select the teams for District Jammu in the various sports disciplines for Inter-District Division Level competitions.
In Fencing (Sabre) Under-19 Boys, Mayank bagged gold, Saryansh clinched silver, while Lakshya  and Abhijay claimed bronze, while in EPEE boys Under-14 years, Krishanshu won gold, Devang bagged silver and the bronze went to Varun and Sunanvay.
In Sabre Under-14 boys, Sachin bagged gold, Tarun won silver, while Sarthak and  Chanakaya claimed bronze.
The matches were officiated by Shefali Gupta, Ujjwal Gupta, Anthony Matoo, Abdul Quadir and Tonny Matoo.
