JAMMU, Nov 23: Doon International School (DIS) hosted the much-anticipated Sahodaya Athletics Championship over two exhilarating days, bringing together 23 CBSE schools to compete in a celebration of athletic talent and sportsmanship.
The event commenced yesterday, with participants from the under-14 and under-16 girls’ categories showcasing their skills. The opening ceremony featured chief guest Ranbir Singh Pathania (MLA Udhampur East). He was joined by guest of honour Gurcharan Singh (senior athletic coach of J&K Sports Council) and DIS Chairman GN Tantray.
The Championship concluded today, with an inspiring address from chief guest Nizamuddin Bhat (MLA of Bandipora), who motivated the young athletes with his encouraging words. The competitive matches for the under-14 and under-16 boys’ categories showcased remarkable talent and determination.
Doon International School emerged victorious, clinching the winners’ trophy, while Model Academy School secured the runners-up position. Certificates and medals were presented to the winners by G N Tantray, Principal of host school Dr Vikesh Kour and Vice Principal Dr Sarita Moza Kaul.
The Sahodaya Athletics Championship not only highlighted the athletic prowess of the students but also reinforced the values of integrity, perseverance, and teamwork among the youth.
