Nadeem’s 4-wkt haul helps Shining Star to lift HMSI Cup

Excelsior Sports Correspondent RAJOURI, Apr 20: Four-wicket haul by Nadeem Dar today helped Shining Star to outclass Boom Boom Cricket Club in the final of the Hindu Muslim Sikh Isai (HMSI) T-20 Cricket Tournament played in Rajouri district. The tournament was organised by Youth for Change (YFC), Rajouri with an aim to showcase the secularism and brotherhood in the state. The final match was played between Shining Star Cricket Club and Boom Boom Cricket Club. Batting first after winning the toss, Shining Star scored 226 runs for the loss of six wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Ashu was the top scorer from Shrining Star side with 52 runs while Momin made 47, Aamir 41 and Ishtiaq Rasool 40. Nitin Mehra of Boom Boom claimed highest four wickets for 36 runs in his four overs spell. Later chasing the target, the Boom Boom Club was crippled by Nadeem Dar with his spellbound bowling spell. He took four wickets for 29 runs in four overs while the entire Boom Boom side was sent back to the pavilion with 215 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Top scorer Sahil with 48 runs in his kitty stayed for long at the crease but the other end tumbled soon. Satish and Puneet with 30 runs each and Prince with 31 runs were the top scorers for losing side. Nadeem from Shining Start for his excellent bowling spell was declared as man of the match. Faizan Dar was declared as the man of the series for his outstanding overall performance in the tournament. SSP Rajouri Mohammad Suleman Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion while Chairman Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal was the guest of honour. They distributed cash prize of Rs One lakh to the winning team while the runners-up team was given Rs 50,000. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest appreciated the Youth for holding such events because sports not only keeps one physically fit but also inculcate discipline in life. Zorawar Singh Jamwal in his address said that sports, is one of the best mediums to stay away from social evils especially the drugs menace.
