SRINAGAR, Aug 11: ADGP Dilbag Singh, who is also president of J&K Rifle Association inaugurated the 1ST Srinagar District Rifle Shooting Championship, organized by Srinagar District Rifle Association, under the aegis of J&K Rifle Association at newly constructed Shooting Range at Khalsa High School Magarmal Bagh, here.
A number of children, both boys and girls from various schools of district Srinagar are participating in the Championship which will culminate on August 13 with prize distribution to the winners.
Mr Dilbag while addressing the children emphasized that the sport of shooting inculcates discipline among the participants. He also stressed that the shooters who excel in the championship will be imparted further training so that they are able to compete at national and international levels.
“Shooting is the only sport which has brought laurels to the country in the last three Olympics and shooters from J&K should leave no stone unturned in keeping the State’s flag high at the highest level,” Mr Dilbag added. The President assured the participating children that every possible help will be extended to the children keen to hone their talent and excel in this sport.
Earlier, Danish Aman, Member, Srinagar District Rifle Association presented welcome address.
The inaugural function of the event, among others was attended by Omar Nedou, President, Srinagar District Rifle Association, Jaipal Singh, Member, Public Service Commission, J&K, Harmohan Singh, President, Khalsa Education Society, Srinagar, Upender Jit Singh, Member, Srinagar District Rifle Association, Kuldep Handoo, Sports Officer J&K Police, Sharat Chander Singh, Treasurer J&K Rifle Association and Principals of various Srinagar based Schools.
