JAMMU, Feb 10: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dilbag Singh has been elected as the president of Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) in its Annual General Body meeting held here today.
PS Gill has been elevated and appointed as patron of JKRA, while Sudhir Kumar has been elected as general secretary and Sharat Chander Singh as treasurer.
KS Jamwal will be the new senior vice-president while NS Bhatial, Sohan Lal and Sanam Soni as vice-presidents of the Association. Pankaj Sharma has been named as the joint secretary.
The elections were held under the convenorship of JP Singh, Director Youth Services and Sports, while Prof Ashutosh Sharma general secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association was observer in the Annual General Body meeting of the Association.
The house also authorized, president, JKRA to appoint eight executive members of the Association.
Earlier, Dr NS Bhatial read out detailed report of the activities, organized by the JKRA and performance of the association in the year 2011-12.
Speaking on the occasion, Dilbag Singh assured that newly elected body will leave no stone unturned to promote game of shooting in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He also announced that JKRA will request the national rifle association of India to allot All India Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Inter-School Shooting Championship this year.
He also urged the Director, Youth Services and Sports, Jaipal Singh to make the Nagrota shooting range functional soon.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Sohan Lal, KS Jamwal, Col AS Chandhoke, Col Sukhbir Singh, SS Sodhi, Parveen Mittal and SSP Vijay Kumar.
