JAMMU, Aug 26: Scripting a convincing win in an exciting summit clash by two sets to one (2-1), Diksha lifted the women’s singles title in the ongoing 27th Jammu District Badminton Championship, being organized by the Jammu District Badminton Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Both the women shuttlers sweated-it-out in the middle and displayed superb smashing skills, before Diksha prevailed upon her rival after losing the first set (19-21).
She held her nerves in the pressure situation and won the other two sets by (21-17, 21-15).
Meanwhile, in Under-13 girls doubles event, the duo of Naman and Pihushee lifted the Championship by prevailing upon the pair of Shweta and Mridula as they got retired hurt.
In Under-10 girls final, Bhavini Dalpatia trounced Mridula Rahate in straight two sets by (21-17, 23-21) to lift the title.
Rupal will lock horns with Mitakshara in Under-17 girls singles final, as they defeated their rivals Himshee and Akanksha in the semifinals respectively, while in Under-19 girls semifinals, Prabjot beat Suvidha by (21-07, 21-08).
In Under-19 boys doubles semifinals, Shantul and Arjun outplayed Zafal and Ayush in a hard fought contest by (21-18, 17-21, 21-15).
In Under-13 boys singles semifinals, Arjun Nagpal drubbed Aryan Verma by (21-14, 21-15), while in Under-13 boys doubles, Aryan and Suvinay pair got better of Nitin and Sarandeep duo by (21-15, 21-08) and Vaibhav and Aryan prevailed upon the pair of Akash and Arjun in a close contest by (20-22, 21-18, 21-19) to move into the finals.

Formidable pair of Narender Khajuria and Pradeep defeated the defending champions Ramesh Sharma and Ashish duo in the veteran doubles finals, here today.
Narender and Pradeep thrashed Ramesh and Ashish in two straight sets by (21-16, 21-15) to reign the crown.
Earlier, in the semifinal clashes, Narender and Pradeep outclassed Sunil and Anil Gurkha in a close contest by (21-18, 21-17), while Ramesh and Ashish outwitted Raju Chawla and Vijay Dewan by (21-19, 26-24).
Meanwhile, in veteran singles semifinals, Anil Gurkha outplayed Ramesh Raina in an easy contest by (21-12, 21-11), while Ramesh Sharma prevailed upon Vivek Salathia by (21-15, 21-17) to qualify for the finals.
The finals of the remaining events would be played tomorrow, which would be followed by a valedictory function at 4 pm at the same venue, wherein Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports, RS Chib, would be the chief guest to distribute the prizes.
The Tournament is being organized by Jammu District Badminton Association, under the banner of J&K Badminton Association.
