DIG Jammu inaugurates JKCA Premier Championship

JAMMU, May 13: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Jammu, Rafiq-ul-Hassan inaugurated the JKCA Premier Cricket Championship in an impressive function at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
While DIG Jammu was the chief guest, Former Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ramesh Mahajan was the guest of honour on the occasion.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of retired Judge, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, while the members of Organizing Committee include Rajesh Gill, Rajesh Dhar, Vijay Sharma, Vijay Saberwal, Harsh Nayyar and Sachin Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of the organizers and the players for being part of the event despite hot conditions. He said that hard work and dedication is the mantra to succeed in every field.
Earlier, Mr Jamwal presented welcome address and gave brief detail of the tournament. He said that 34 teams are participating in the senior category and 14 in the junior category.
In the inaugural match, Singh Cricket Club defeated Khalsa Cricket Club by 15 runs in a close contest.
Batting first, Singh Club scored 136 runs in 27.5 overs. Deepak Sharma top scored with 42 runs, while Anil Sharma contributed unbeaten 24 runs to the total. Anil Singh and Anil Langeh chipped in with 14 runs each. For Khalsa CC, Sunny Gupta took 3 wickets, while Pritvi Singh claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Khalsa Club bundled out for 121 runs in 21.1 overs, thus lost the match by 15 runs. Manpreet Singh top scored with 28 runs, while Pritvi and Abhishek Singh contributed 21 runs each. Rohit Langeh took 4 important wickets, while Harbans Singh and Anil Sharma bagged 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Rohit Langeh was declared as the man of the match.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik and Ashok Singh.
