SAMBA, Oct 31: Dhora Cricket Club (Dhora CC) Nud emerged winner of District Premier League Cricket (DPLC) U/19 tournament by defeating Shiva Medicos Cricket Club Ghagwal with 26 runs, organised by District police in memory of loving police martyrs at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium, here today.
Mukesh Singh, Inspector General of Police (IGP) was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony. Rajesh Sharma, SSP Samba; Aijaz Ahmed Zargar, Addl SP along with various police and civil officials besides family members of police martyrs were present during the function.
About nine teams of Samba district participated in the tournament which was organised under the supervision of trained staff provided by Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Vishav Chib was declared as Man of the Match.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Jammu congratulated SSP Samba and his team for the successful culmination of the sports festival organized under Flag Day Programme. He further said that the sports festival was organised in loving memory of police martyrs who made supreme scarifies of their lives in the line of duty.
The SSP Samba said that organizing this tournament was an effort of Samba Police to channelize the energy of youth in positive direction and build a better society by keeping youths away from drugs and other social evils.
Later, prize distribution function was held in which trophies, medals, cricket kits and uniform kits were presented to winner and runner-up teams along with cash prizes. Man of Series trophy was also presented to a player who excelled during the tournament.
Moreover, mementos were also presented to the umpires and other field staff for their support during the matches.
