DEERS organises Green March

JAMMU, May 9: Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing (DEERS), J&K organised a Green March at Mansar Lake on the eve of World Migratory Birds Day, here today.
The theme of the event was ‘Protect Birds: Be the Solution to Plastic Pollution’.
About 100 students of Govt High School Kakrai, Majalta alongwith the faculty participated in the Green March around Mansar Lake.
In sync with the theme, participants took pledge to reduce the use of plastic in their lives.
Alternates to plastics were discussed and eco friendly material was distributed among the students and the staff of the school.
Kuldeep Kumar, Environmental Soil Conservationist, Jammu (DEE&RS) highlighted the need for addressing plastic pollution and its negative effects on migratory birds.
The school management acknowledged the efforts of the Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing for spreading the environmental awareness among the masses.
