Deepu displays good show in losing battle of Senior Snooker

JAMMU, Sept 26: He did not let his handicap come in his way of putting a sterling performance and stole the show. Deepu though lost by three frames to nil (3-0) to Ajay Pal Singh by (56-49, 62-57, 55-51), yet displayed superb skill and technique in a losing battle of Senior Snooker in the ongoing 22nd Jammu District Open Junior and Senior Snooker Championship, organized by the J&K Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
Meanwhile, six more cueists entered second round after scripting victories over their rivals in the first round matches today.
Earlier, in the first match played today, Sanand Sharma prevailed upon equally strong Nishant in a close contest (3-2) by (59-31, 26-63, 55-22, 39-69, 54-19). Winning the first set easily, Sanand lost the second one, but came back strongly in the third set, to make it 2-1 and lost the fourth set and won the last set in an easy contest by (54-19).
In other first round matches, Abhishek Goswami defeated Rohit Kapoor 3-0 by (65-15, 44-36, 47-21), Saurabh Dogra trounced Aseem Ghai 3-1 by (49-34, 36-42, 43-16, 60-19), Sahil Kapadia scripted a narrow win over Shubham Parbhakar  3-2 by (71-36, 47-55, 61-18, 12-35, 51-36) and Bhanu Gupta drubbed Divit Aggarwal 3-1 (88-58, 52-69, 57-10, 55-17).
The remaining matches of the first round would continue tomorrow.
