JAMMU, Dec 3: Minister for Youth Services and Sports Taj Mohi-ud-Din has urged for revitalizing the Youth Services and Sports Department (DYSS), adding that deadwood will be removed to make it more vibrant and result oriented.
Speaking at a review meeting of the Youth Services and Sports Department, the Minister asked the concerned officers to be duty bound and accountable to ensure that Central schemes are implemented without any delay. He asked the senior officers of the department to send utilization certification (UC) to the Centre expeditiously so that sanctioned grants for Centrally sponsored scheme for the Youth Services and Sports and Technical Education are released on time.
The Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal, Secretary Technical Education, Parvez Malik, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Dalip Thusoo, Jt. Director Planning Youth Services and Sports, Madan Lal and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The Minister said Panchayat Yuva Kheel Krida Abhiyan (PYKKA) is an important Centrally Sponsored Scheme which is aimed to provide sports infrastructure in rural areas, adding that the Government has planned to develop sports infrastructure particularly mini stadia covering as many as 413 villages and 14 block Panchayats in the first phase each stadia costing Rs. 5 lakh.
He instructed the concerned officers of Youth Services & Sports to identify land for developing sports infrastructure in various areas of the State and remove bottlenecks in this connection without any delay.
Mr Taj also directed the higher authorities to fill up all the newly created vacancies and posts under promotion quota strictly according to the seniority lists without further delay adding that it was imperative for boosting morale of the employees working in Youth Services and Sports and Technical Education Department.
He expressed his displeasure for unnecessary delay caused by the concerned departments in this regard and directed the concerned authorities to vacant posts under promotion quota by ordering placement till clearance from the Public Service Commission.
He said de-reliction of duty and laxity in discharging paramount duties will not be tolerated in any case. He urged for greater coordination at various levels to bring more efficiency and accountability in the concerned departments.
