DDCA XI drubs HCA to lift Amandeep Cricket League title

AMRITSAR, Mar 16: Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) XI got the better of Haryana Cricket Academy (HCA) XI by a narrow margin of 9 runs to win the title trophy of the Amandeep Cricket League (APL) T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket, at Amandeep Cricket ground, here.
Eight teams drawn from different parts of the country took part in this tournament, which got underway on March 9, 2020.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, DDCA XI scored 146 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process.
Haryana Cricket Academy, in reply managed to score 137 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 9 runs.
Dr Avtar Singh, Dr Amandeep Kaur, Dr Shahbaz, Dr Anupreet Kaur and Balvinder Singh Sandhu were among the dignitaries present on the valedictory function.
Both the teams were felicitated by the chief guest and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Avtar Singh said that sports is the best medium to enhance fitness of the youth.
He further said that sports and games help youth to stay away from drugs and other allied social evils, besides helping them not to derail from the mainstream.
