DDC Kathua inaugurates block level sports tournament; Judo C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Oct 31: Various games were played under Khelo India Scheme at different venues.
KATHUA: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rohit Khajuria today declared open block level sports tournament here at sports stadium under Khelo India Scheme.
The sporting events being organized across the district will witness competitions in football, volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Cricket, Athletics and Wrestling in which unprecedented 7218 sports enthusiast in the age groups of U-17 and 19 and above have registered.
Inaugural event was attended by ADC Kathua Ghansham Singh, ACR Jatinder Mishra CEO, Bishan Singh DYSSO, Sunil Kumar, ZPEOs and officers of various other departments.
Similar sporting events will also be organized at blocks–Barnoti, Hiranagar, Billawar, Bani, Duggan, Basholi and Malhar.
SAMBA: Exhilarating matches of block Ghagwal and Rajpura were played in Kabbadi, Kho-kho, Badminton, Football and Wrestling at Government Girls High School, Ghagwal.
On the occasion, Commanding Officer ITBP Pawan Singh Negi was the chief guest.
In Wrestling U-17, Shiv Charan Singh (41-45 kg), Arun Kumar (46-48 kg), Gourav Chowdhary (49-55 kg), Manish Sharma (56-60 kg), Arjun Sharma (61-65 kg), Vicky Kumar (66-71 kg), while in U-20 age category, Gopal Krishan (48-51 kg), Nirbal Kumar (51-55 kg), Suresh Singh (60-65 kg), Karan Kumar (60-65 kg), Surinder Kumar (70-74 kg), whereas in above 20 age category, Mukesh Kumar (55-60 kg), Subhash Chander (75-79 kg) and Jatinder Sharma (57-61 kg) won their respective bouts.
In Kabaddi U-17, GHSS Ghagwal and CMS Club, in U-20, UPS Jatwal and Nathan Club and in above 20, team village Sadwal and team village Harsath were emerged as winners and runner ups respectively.
In Volleyball U-17, Harsad Club and Shanmatloni Club, in U-20, Sanoora Club and Narsingh Club and in above 20, Sarthian Club and Narsingh Club were declared as winners and runner-ups respectively.
In Kho-Kho U-17, Mandera Club, UPS Jatwal, Jyoti High School Jatwal participated in which UPS Jatwal stood winner and Jyoti High School remained runner-up. In U-20, GHSS Rajpura won the title.
In Badminton U-17 , Nikhil and Rakesh, in U- 20 Rohit Sharma and Vipan Singh and in above 20, Rohit Sharma and Aman Kumar were declared as winners and runner ups respectively.
In Football U-17, Gurha Jattan defeated Tagore Institute of Education 3-0, in under 20, Ghagwal Club drubbed HSS Rajpura by 5-0 in which Akhil Jasrotia scored 4 goals. Ravi Singh officiated both the matches.
BANDIPORA: Two days Judo Championship organized by J&K Judo Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council concluded at sports stadium here.
On the valedictory function, Abdul Qayoom Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council distributed medal and certificate among the winners. The bouts were officiated by Shafqat Shafi and Manzoor Ahmed. Abdul Hamid and Gowar Khan were the Organizing Secretaries.
In below 36 kgs (girls), Shazia Latief, Rabiya Rehman and Humaira Reyaz bagged first, second and third positions respectively, in below 40 kgs, Ruqiya Rashid, Nadiya Sultan and Nighat Maqbool secured first, second and third positions respectively, in below 44 kgs, Aaliya Ali, Sadaf and Khushboo Bashir secured first, second and third positions respectively, in below 48 kgs, Aanima Jan, Ruqiya Jabeen and Farhat Fatima bagged first, second and third positions respectively and in below 52 Kgs, Rehana Khushboo, Khushboo Mushtaq and Raquya Parvaiz bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In below 40 kgs (boys), Mohammad Hussain, Zameer Ahmad and Mohammad Mortaza bagged first, second and third positions respectively, in below 45 kgs, Shah Fahad, Kaleem Ahmad and Aamir Fayaz secured first, second and third positions respectively, in below 50 kgs, Suhail Ramzan, Adnan and Reyaz Ahmad bagged first, second and third positions respectively, in below 55 kgs, Nasir Ahmed Dar, Zaheer Ahmed Gujar and Tasaduk Yousaf bagged first, second and third positions respectively and in below 60 kgs, Adil Ali, Azad Amin and Haris Reyaz secured first, second and third positions respectively.
GANDERBAL: District Youth Services and Sports held a prize distribution ceremony to facilitate the teams who participated in inter-district level sports under Khelo India Scheme at Physical College Gadura here today.
Secretary Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafeez was the chief guest on the occasion, who along with DDC Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla distributed prizes among the teams who won games in different sports activities including cricket, football, volleyball, and Tug of War.
Cash prize worth Rs 56,600 were also distributed among the meritorious teams. Sports equipments were also given to all participants.
