KATHUA, May 7: DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh visited the construction site of the Water Sports Academy on the bank of Ranjit Sagar dam in Basholi here today.
To tap the opportunity and to promote the water sports in Ranjit Sagar dam at Basholi, the UT Government has started the construction of Water Sports Academy at Basholi.
The construction work is going on and will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crores.
The DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh visited the construction site and inspected the pace of works.
“The construction of two building infrastructure on the bank of dam is in progress and it is hoped that the work will be completed well in time”, the DDC Chairman said.
DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh added that with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UT Government took initiatives to promote the water sports in Jammu region also.
He said the new youth will get the training of water sports in this Sports Academy which is of National Level. The academy will also attract the tourist in Basholi, he added.
Ex Minister Prem Sagar said that in the past, the successive Government ignored the water sports activities in Ranjit Sagar dam, but now the time has changed and we will witness the water sports activities in this dam very soon.
Sohan Lal and Shammi Kumar, youth residing in Basholi said that they hope that the construction works of Water Sports Academy will be completed soon and the water sports activities will be started.
