DDC inaugurates Kabaddi tournament under Khelo-India

KISHTWAR, Oct 24: District Development Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana today inaugurated inter school Kabaddi Tournament under “Khelo -India initiative” here at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School.
The event is being organized by District Kabaddi Association under the banner of J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council under the aegis of “Khelo India” for the year 2018-19 in Boys section.
Among others present on the occasion were Principal of host school, Ram Sevak Sharma, Kabaddi Coach from J&K Sports Council Ankush Gupta, officials from District Youth Services and Sports and students of B.V.M HSS.
Eight teams under-17 years (Boys) category of various schools of the district are participating in the Kabbadi tournament.
Addressing the gathering, DDC Kishtwar impressed upon the students to actively participate in the sports to stay fit and attain good health. He advised the students to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship while playing the game.
The DDC asked the students to voluntarily come forward and prove their worth in the field of Sports while studying as sports is imperative for overall development of personality.
He appreciated the enthusiasm amongst the participants depicting sports personality. He asked the students to display their capabilities by participating in large numbers and strive for state, national and international level competitions.
He also lauded the efforts of school management for maintaining cleanliness, discipline and decorum in the institution.
